Quote about Love
By Tom .K. | March 4, 2008
‘If you are living in love, you are in heaven no matter where you are.‘
–Kate Braestrup, Unitarian Universalist
I really like this quote, and think that it truly signifies the message of this ceremony. Thanks Matt for bringing the quote to my attention.

It’s not the individual, but the sin that stands out. God created us male and female in His own image. By attacking the institution of marriage and insisting on same-sex relationships, it is the very image of a holy God that is under attack.

I am thankful that I do not live in a Theocracy where one sect’s interpretation of Scripture becomes the Law that everybody must obey. Just look at Iran. I am proud to live in a nation where Freedom of Religion means ALL Religions. I am glad that accurate and untainted depictions of human History exist to prove that Marriage, as an institution, has undergone many changes throughout history and that it predates many religions, including Christianity. I am positively giddy to know that homosexuality exists in nearly every species on the planet, and that if I, by my nature, am such a threat to God, then so are they gay lions and tiger and bears… oh my!

I think it’s beautiful! I’m a married straight woman, and neither my husband or I feel that gay marriage is a threat to our marriage. I’d be willing to bet that the percentage of gay divorce will be far lower than that of straight couples. Personally, I feel that not allowing two people who are so devoted to one another to make their commitment legal is a much bigger threat to ANY marriage.
BTW, marriage is a LEGAL CONTRACT… the ONLY religious significance it has is that which is added by the couple when they get married. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have to go to court to get a legal divorce, you would have to go through your church (which I’m guessing would have a LOT more red tape.
Therefore, religion should have nothing to do with the decision to make gay marriage legal.
Love and Light, and Blessings to you all. May you live long and happy lives together!

Love has no gender boundaries. Love is Love, regardless of the gender of the person you are in love with. Weddings/committement cermonies; however you would like to word it, it suppose to be a celebration about love, not an opportunity to voice hate. Our country was founded on the principle of fredom from and of religion. The extreme conservatives can have their opinion of my lifestyle, but it is not approriate to makes these opinions evident the day of my ceremony. I think all of these controversies here and throughout the country related to not only gay marriage but also to many other issues striking our society today if we would just practice what the Jesus tought, “love one another like you would love yourself.” Congratulations to the ones who are showing PA in front of everyone that they love each other, may you have a long and prosperous life together.

If I may add to the commentary: I agree that RELIGION plays only a small part in the ceremonies and its only whatever the heterosexual couple brings in to it. When you go to get your Marital License you go to the County Clerks office, not to a ReLIGIOUS institution to get your marital license. Therfore it is a STATE act that allows you to be married IN A CHURCH of your choosing. If a couple decides to be married by a JP , does it make their marriage any less valid than say someone who went to a church to get married? NO!
One question that religious zealots never like to
answer: How is two men or two women getting married to each other affecting YOUR marriage? Last I looked, I believe that HETEROSEXUAL marriages had a 50% higher divorce rate than say GAY couples. So now that we are on the bandwagon to BAN gay marriages and civil unions, are we also going instate archaic laws against infidelity and unfaithfulness in marriages, as well? If not, then leave gay marriages alone and live and let live. Don;t you heterosexuals think youv’e done ENOUGH damge to the institution of mariage without telling us gAYSD and LESBIANS how to run ours?

In regards to the Pastor,
Does the Bible not state that we are made in the IMAGE of GOD? GOD IS LOVE; correct? IF GOD IS LOVE AND WE ARE MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD, SO MADE FROM LOVE; THEN, LOVE CAN ONLY BENEFIT FROM LOVE.
The Bible is to never be used to judge, for there is only one true Judge…you will meet HIM before this GAY PROUD LOVING COMMITTED TAX-PAYING AND LAW ABIDING CITIZEN will!
Bless you,
NICK KRUG
