Get rid of the mayor. I cannot judge him… but God will. It’s doomsday for the mayor. Please search your soul Mayor.

With so many problems specifically addressed in the Bible as concerns the church should be addressing, it is disheartening to find congregations spinning their wheels over something about which the Bible says very little. Even the few prohibition passages usually cited are open to alternative interpretation.

What most threatens marriage and children is not a gay union but abusive and unfaithful heterosexual relationships.

Oh I do believe their are just as many abusive gay so called “unions”. Unfaithful gays are most abusive…. and if you say children are not envolved…..there is the “demolition” of the “Family”……Think you are ‘totally” missing the point here…It’s in very poor taste for you to put down the church…and I believe you should read scripture a little more.

Personally, I’d rather see the focus on this event shift away from what select self-proclaimed Christians believe and instead focus more on Civil Rights and Freedom of Expression. Heck, even Freedom of Religion.

I am not Christian (nor an Atheist). Last time I checked, American was not a Theocracy run by a select Christian denomination. Under the Constitution, any religion that welcomes and accepts same-sex blessings/unions/marriages should have a right to practice them. (This is not to say that opposing religions should be forced to do the same, contrary to the fear-mongering coming out of those camps.) Sadly, the government continues to debase non-Christian faiths even in the “land of the free.”

There are many forms of family, and, like Marriage, the definition has changed greatly over time. It continues to evolve to best suite the needs of every entitled member of society; homosexuals among them.

I have read the scriptures and love the ones that people forget such as :

Lev 12:2 “Tell the Israelites, ‘When a woman produces offspring 1 and bears a male child, 2 she will be unclean seven days, as she is unclean during the days of her menstruation.

If the baby is a girl, the mother is unclean for 14 days

Lev 15:19 “‘When a woman has a discharge and her discharge is blood from her body, she is to be in her menstruation seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean until evening.

Lev 15:20 Anything she lies on during her menstruation will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean.

Lev 15:25 “‘When a woman’s discharge of blood flows many days not at the time of her menstruation, or if it flows beyond the time of her menstruation, all the days of her discharge of impurity will be like the days of her menstruation – she is unclean.

Lev 15:26 Any bed she lies on all the days of her discharge will be to her like the bed of her menstruation, any furniture she sits on will be unclean like the impurity of her menstruation,

Lev 15:33 the one who is sick in her menstruation, the one with a discharge, whether male or female, and a man who has sexual intercourse with an unclean woman.’”

So basically women were locked away and shunned during their periods. Too bad we can’t go back to this.

Exodus 21:7: “And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.”

A father could sell his daughter as a slave. Even though a male slave is automatically given his freedom after 6 years, a female slave remained a slave forever.

Numbers 27:8-11,”…If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father’s brethren. And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family….”

Moses describes the rules of inheritance that God has stated. If a man dies, his son inherits the estate; his daughter gets nothing. Only if there is no son, will his daughter inherit. If there are no children, then the estate is given to the man’s brothers; his sister(s) get nothing. If he had no brother, the estate goes to his nearest male relative.

I’ve got a lot more rules and regulations that GOD sanctified…so becareful for what you wish.

And PLEASE don’t say that things are different and this is the USA or a Christian nation…
Follow the rules of your chosen religion without picking or choosing lest becoming a hyppocrite, or just more on and accept progress in civil rights for all.

Kudos to Mayor Welch! As a permanent State College resident, I want to wholeheartedly commend the Mayor for his support of the Commitment Ceremony. I am a married, heterosexual woman with a family who feels strongly that it’s high time our lovely town of State College catches up with much of the rest of the country and begins accepting (and appreciating!) that couples and families come in all shapes, sizes and configurations.

Congrats to the brave couples who are willing to stand up and break new ground in our town! You have this family’s support.
